A fanlisting is an online list of people who are fans of a particular subject. This can be anything; from TV shows to music to periods in history. Basically anything you can find a fan for, you can probably find a fanlisting for.
The only requirement for joining a fanlisting is that you have a valid email, a name and a country. You don't need a website, although if you do have one and would like it listed with your member details, you should place a link back to the fanlisting from your website. Usually people with websites link back to the fanlistings they've joined anyway, as it shows their visitors the various things they're interested in. Then those who are also interested in that subject can browse memberlists and visit the websites of potentially similar-minded people.
Fanlistings can be a simple site with a page for joining and a page to list the member database, or it can be a part of a larger fansite.
